Welcome

We are the Salt Lake Society of Friends, also known as Quakers. We have no formal creed, no ritual, dogma, or liturgy. As we Friends have no dogma, what is it that binds us lovingly together? One is a belief in the sacred that lies beyond all scripture, all dogma, all words, all thought, and that is available within everyone. A second is participation in the Quaker form of community, where there are no leaders, and where the process of governance involves obtaining group unity. A third is a commitment to the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, and Equality. To the best of our abilities these testimonies inform our way of being in the world.

“There is a principle which is pure, placed in the human mind, which in different places and ages hath had different names. It is, however, pure and proceeds from God. It is deep and inward, confined to no forms of religion nor excluded from any, where the heart stands in perfect sincerity. In whomsoever this takes root and grows, of what nation soever they become brethren.”

John Woolman, 1746

We welcome you to join us for worship! And we invite you to learn more about our Meeting by reading our Structure and Practice document.

Elevator Fundraiser

Salt Lake Friends Monthly Meeting has installed an elevator from the main floor to the basement to support our members who find it difficult to go up and down the stairs. We have been self-funding, but now is the time to raise some more money to finish the job. Please consider supporting us through our GoFundMe site: gofund.me/ca662600

If you don’t have $10, send it to 10 friends. Think of:

  • Friends and family
  • Other faith-based or political organizations you belong to
  • Social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram
  • Asking for support on your birthday
